Kiawah Island Photos

Tucked away in the dunes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Windswept offers oceanviews from any of our villas. Within easy walking distance are shops, restaurants, the Night Heron Park, and the new Sanctuary Hotel. Shown above is a typical summer day on the beach in front of Windswept.

Shown above are a couple deer "nesting" in the dunes of Mariners Watch. Kiawah has many, many deer - in the late evening, when most people have retired for the night, the deer occassionally stroll out on the beach!

For Father's Day this year, we all enjoyed several games of Bocci Ball on the beach. Shawn, is on the left, then my son Theodore (13 yrs), Neal (Shawn's Father) and my other son Benjamin (15 yrs).

Nothing beats grabbing some old bread, or a box of Saltines and heading out to the beach to feed the seagulls. Once they get used to you, they will even be brave enough to snatch a cracker from your fingers!

Biking on the beach or building a sandcastle....

There are 4 world-class golf courses on Kiawah that are open to the public. Each are wonderful to play and beautiful to admire. The courses that are open to our Kiawah guests are Cougar Point (within walking distance of the villas), Turtle Point, Osprey, and the Ocean Course (the nicest).

Kiawah is the perfect place for lovers! You'll never forget spending your honeymoon or celebrating your anniversary, if you are at Kiawah. Spend the afternoon reading a book or catching some sun...

If you have the opportunity - be sure to spend the week of July Fourth at Kiawah! The day starts out at Night Heron Park, with the annual parade of the Bikes - all the kids decorate their beach bikes with red, white and blue flyers. There are sandcastle building contests on the beach, a big party at the park, a band playing at Freshfields and when the sun sets and the stars appear, sit out on the beach in front of Windswept and enjoy not just one, but TWO firework displays...THE BEST CELEBRATION EVER!! Note: Just be careful not to drop your cell phone in the the tide while enjoying the fireworks, like I did this year...salt water and cell phones DO NOT mix.
