Celebrate the nation's birthday Kiawah-style at this lively annual event. Summer's heat doesn't stop folks from coming out for fun and festivities galore. Activities include:

• Parade of Patriotic Bikes - For kids of all ages - decorate your bike and join in the parade!! This an everybody-included parade that starts at 9:45AM in Night Heron Park.
• Fourth of July Festival in Night Heron Park - From 10 am to 2 pm the festival includes live entertainment, carnival games, an arts and crafts show, and children's play areas. Food and drinks available for purhcase. Everyone is sure to get a dose of fun!
• Sand-Sculpting Contest - This is your opportunity to share your creativity by using our uniquely coastal medium - SAND!! Join the crowd from 1:30 to 3 pm near the Night Heron Beach access - be sure to bring your shovels and pails!
• Evening Celebration in the Park - Beginning at 5:30, join us at the Night Heron Park for Beach Music, Island Drinks and a good-old-fashioned Oyster Roast!
• Fireworks!! - The best place to watch the fireworks will be sitting out on the beach near Windswept or the Sanctuary. Be sure to bring your beach chairs, some blankets and some cold drinks. The show starts around 9:30 - ENJOY!!

Mingo Point, located along the river just before you get to Kiawah's main security gate, is the setting for this wonderful summertime event. Folks come out to enjoy island beauty and indulge in fire-roasted oysters and an incredible spread of barbecued chicken and ribs, not to mention baked beans, coleslaw, rice, desserts, and lots of other treats. After dinner is done, local bands play beach music, kids frolic in the balmy air, and folks take in the sunset and moonrise. A great time for everyone. Hors d'oeuvres of several sandwiches will accompany tea, including cucumber and smoked salmon, proscuitto ham with fresh asparagus, and chicken salad with pine nuts and red grapes. Light desserts will feature chocolate pistachio teacake, fresh berry tart and hazlenut peach financier. The variety of teas being served includes Organic Earl Gray, Organic Mint Melange and Chamomile Citrus. Open to the general public. The cost is $22 per person, plus tax and gratuity, and $15 for children ages 4-12. There is no charge for children under the age of four.
