Kiawah Island BikingGo
biking on Kiawah's 30+ Miles of Asphalted Bike
Paths!
Biking on Kiawah is the best way to tour the island - and it is great exercise! Be sure to bring the kids too! There
is a bike path that starts at one end of the island and runs
alongside the main parkway. Bike paths are generally
set back off the parkway in the trees and are delightful to ride.
Feel free to ride your bikes down Kiawah's 10 mile stretch of hard-packed sand. Start off with the wind at your back
and sail on down the beach with little effort pedaling - when you reach the other end, locate a boardwalk and return
via a bike trail. This is the easiest method - and you'll see a good bit of the island. Laminated maps of the island's
bike trails are located in each of our villas.
New Kiawah Island Bike Path - Kiawah has just completed a new 2-3 mile bike path that continues the existing bike path
from the front guard gate out to the Freshfields shopping center. Be sure to rent bike baskets along with your bikes if you plan to bike out to the grocery store or do other shopping.
Also - there are many golf course paths - these are generally
not to be biked on - the bikers are an annoyance to the golfers.
But feel free to explore these fine golf courses in the late
afternoon and evenings, when the courses are closed.
Be sure to shout out a "Hello" to all of the passing
bikers - this just makes everyone feel good!
We also offer "Burley" trailers or tag-alongs for your younger family members. These connect to any of our adult bikes.
Rent a bike ($37.50 plus tax) and we'll include a folding beach chair which you can use during your stay.
Add a Bike Basket ($10 plus tax) or Burley trailer ($50 plus tax). Read more about our rental equipment.
